Have you ever noticed that there are tiny moments in life that demand action? Moments that require you to be loving, encouraging, supportive, or to step out of your comfort zone with a different sort of kindness?
In this season of life, it seems like everyone I know is applying for a new job. One person in particular was feeling so small, so beat up, so invaluable because of how she is being treated at work. It’s funny how being in the wrong job can make you feel so small and worthless when that’s not true at all.
I know what that feels like, but I also know that those jobs prepare us and make us stronger so that when we DO find the perfect job, we will not only be suited to it, but we’ll appreciate it more. Why? Because then you’re finally doing what you love! And you feel fulfilled because you are finally doing the work you were made to do.
There was this one small moment in which I felt compelled to write her a little letter of encouragement. I could have ignored it. It’s so easy to let those moments slip by. But because of the Kitty and Corgi book filled with little moments of encouragement that I am working on illustrating, I realized that ignoring it would miss the point of my book!
So many people go forgotten, they feel invisible, and their feelings of worthlessness go ignored. Sometimes, they just need to know that someone is proud of them, that someone sees them as valuable, that someone sees them at all!
So, in true Kitty and Corgi fashion, I wrote a letter telling her I was proud of her, and I told her exactly what I was proud of and why. I praised her for how much she has grown and learned and the professional she has become.
And I’ll tell you the same: You might not believe it yet, but you have amazing skills that are valuable.
If your job has made you feel like ‘less,’ don’t let that voice of doubt or negative self-talk echo in your mind. The wrong job can take a toll on your self-esteem and sense of worth. You are worthy. You are valuable. You are an asset!
If you notice that someone needs love and encouragement, don’t miss out on that little tiny moment. Maybe send them a Corgi phone wallpaper to remind them to hold their head high and to wear self-confidence - because it is, after all, the best outfit.
I hope you’ll believe in yourself and switch that inner voice to believe in you too! Chin up, wear that fabulous outfit that Corgi has on (self-confidence), and know that it can only get better from here 😊
Love,
Emma
