One sunny fall afternoon, as the leaves fell, Kitty and Corgi invited a friend over for teatime.
Carrie the Cat had just brushed her fur all nice and neat and was ready to go. She fluffed her fur and, in the mirror, gave herself a smile and a wink.
Kitty knocked on the door so they could walk together.
As Carrie the Cat walked out the door, she was surrounded by beautiful leaves in the trees, all golden and red, green, orange and brown, all shapes and sizes, big and small, pointed or round, with many veins and edges and patterns and spots. But instead of looking up at the trees, she looked down at the ground.
“The leaves are so beautiful!” said Kitty in wonder as she watched the leaves all around.
“Ugh! So many leaves on the ground! That’s going to be so much to rake up,” Carrie the Cat grumbled.
“We can make a leaf pile to jump into!” Said Kitty, “and besides, I love the sound of raking leaves. And raking is great exercise!”
Carrie harrumphed quietly as they plodded through the leaves.
On the walk to Kitty and Corgi’s house, instead of enjoying the leaves dancing on the fall breeze, when a wind ruffled her freshly fluffed fur, she rolled her eyes and grumbled, “Ugh, of COURSE. Just when I fluffed my fur! Now it’s all messed up.
